Key Stage 3
Students currently spend 2 hours a week in Design Technology lessons. This time is divided equally between the 2 mains areas of Resistant Materials and Food/Textiles Technology.

We currently offer GCSE courses in Resistant Materials, Graphic Projects and Food Technology.
Whichever of these subjects students choose the breakdown of the final grade is 60% coursework and 40% exam. All of these courses follow the AQA syllabus and further information can be found on their website:

Certain Students follow a separate curriculum where they work towards and Entry Level Certificate in Design Technology, focussing on Resistant Materials and Food Technology. This is also run by AQA and the syllabus code is 4945 (RM) or 4942 (FT)
The Entry Level course is 100% coursework and students have to complete work for 4 modules all of which focus on different areas of the syllabus, 2 units are compulsory and set by the board and the other 2 can be chosen by staff or students from a list of possible choices.
