Students currently spend 1 hour a week in the ICT Suite.
Students study the following topics
Year 7 Creating a PowerPoint presentation
Creating a Newsletter
Developing spreadsheet skills
Developing database skills.
Year 8 Creating a website.
Using control and monitoring programs.
Using models and presenting numeric data.
Year 9 Systems Analysis
Creating sound for Ithe Internet
Preparation for GCSE
KS4
All Year 10 pupils follow an ICT course. The Option course is the Edexcel DiDA course which leads to a double award. The Core group follow the OCR Nationals course which leads to a single award and the Gold group follow a course leading to the OCR Entry Level Certificate in ICT.
As of September 2007 all Year 10 pupils will follow a course leading to the OCR Level 2 National First Award in ICT.
Pupils must complete two units of work. One is mandatory,
‘ICT Skills for Business’,
and the other can be chosen from
Creating animation for the WWW using ICT
Creating computer graphics
Creating sound using ICT
Creating video
This award is assessed through the documents produced throughout the units of work. There is no final examination. Reported Grades will be Pass, Merit and Distinction which relate to GCSE grades of C, B and A.
This is very much a work related course which is based on the practical application of ICT and it will provide valuable opportunities for pupils to develop skills and gain underpinning knowledge and understanding which will support entry into work or further studies through Further Education or Higher Education |
