In working with young people,

Do not try to call them back to where they were,

And do not call them to where you are,

Beautiful as that place may seem to you.

You must have the courage to go with them to a place

Neither you nor they have been before

There are times when all children for whatever reason experience difficulties in their lives.  These might be academic, such as struggling with their reading or relationships in the classroom, or social, where friendship groups or things at home are becoming a struggle.  There may also be emotional issues such as a bereavement or parents splitting up.  Whatever the reason the Emmaus centre offers support.

The Emmaus centre incorporates the Flexible learning centre where students who find some of their lessons difficult can work in a safe, nurturing  environment in small groups.  There is also an access to learning base where staff  work in with individuals and small groups on improving their learning skills such as literacy, spelling, confidence and self-esteem.  Committed and caring staff provide mentoring and support as well as the intervention groups to support all learners in the school.  Our aim is to develop the skills and qualities that every student has.
